The challenge with capturing 360 panoramic images is that the whole view needs to be ready and clear for the shot. Yes, I can wait for a person to walk out of a shot, or even remove a few items in post editing, but you still want the location to be as clear as possible. Â
For most shots this is relatively easy as the owners control the space. However, the Guildhall at Chichester sits within Priory Park, which is not only the most popular green space in the City, but is also open to the public from ‘dawn to dusk’!Â
After a couple of unsuccessful visits, where it seemed like half the children in Chichester were in the park (that would have been a lot of model release forms!) I had to revert to 7am shoot. Â
I don’t mind the early morning, it’s my preferred time for landscapes, but low sun is not ideal with the fisheye lenses I use to create the panoramas. Fortunately, Priory Park is surrounded by some fantastic trees that helped a lot. (Also a big thank you to the grass cutter who also turned up early, and was kind enough to hide his big white truck out view!)
In the shots below you can see the panoramic set up I use to get high quality (160mb) perfectly stitched final image. The final image is a 360 of the front of the Guildhall, prepared for inclusion in the virtual tour of the Guildhall, which I will share when signed off.
